http://iniciativacolectiva.com/mag/ic9/ic9zine.htm
On Page 66 the artist is interviewed and says, "My purpose is to keep my ARM-ME growing. An Army of Strong, Sexy, Smoking, Surreal, women of power. I like the idea of this type of movement and what better than through the form of a woman. It's like they've been through it all but still have time to pose for my camera eye. "

These woman are not 'strong' except that they are perhaps hardened as slaves. And that he should be so chauvinistic to think it is sexy and "strong" because she knows to submit herself to his "camera eye" despite having gone "through it all"... either he has become the very thing he was satirizing or the movement he refers to is one of occult sadism, where woman are objects to be posed and admired amidst violence. It is not much different than the Madison avenue advertising companies that have sold death and lies beneath the veneer of beauty, except at least this the artwork is completely honest about its worship of death.

Is this the vision the artist sees underneath the veneer of the fashion and modeling world? That what they are really selling is death? That the beauty we behold in magazines comes at the cost of submission, pain, and death? That sexualization and apathy are really just tomes of death worship? Does the artist rebuke or revel in this realization?
